The Femme Trek Story

“Women in the Outdoors Deserve to Be More Than Just an Afterthought.”

My name is Sharon, and I’m the founder of Femme Trek.

In 2021, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life: I walked away from the corporate world after nearly seven years to build something of my own. I wanted to realize my potential, create something meaningful, and spend my time helping others experience the kind of growth and adventure that had shaped my own life.

Long before starting Femme Trek, I spent years traveling and hiking solo. Some of my most memorable experiences happened because I was willing to go alone. I wasn't willing to wait for the perfect timing, the perfect circumstances, or for someone else to join me. Those adventures taught me confidence, self-reliance, and the value of stepping outside my comfort zone.

But I also experienced the frustration that many solo travelers know well. I was often treated as an afterthought, turned away from experiences because I was "just one person," required to pay expensive private tour rates, or made to feel like I didn't quite fit into experiences designed for groups.

At the same time, I saw many of the same challenges facing women in outdoor spaces. Too often, women are treated as an afterthought in industries and experiences that weren't designed with us in mind.

That's why Femme Trek was created intentionally for women.

I wanted to create a space where women can experience adventure, the outdoors, and the wilderness in our own way, at our own pace, and on our own terms. A space where women feel welcome, supported, and encouraged to discover what they're capable of.

My experiences as a solo traveler continue to shape the way I run this business today. Solo women are always welcome here. If you book a tour on your own and another hiker joins, I adjust your rate to the group rate because I believe adventure should be accessible whether you arrive with a group of friends or simply the courage to show up on your own.

More than anything, Femme Trek is about creating space for adventure, fun, learning, self-reliance, and community. It's about helping women build confidence, develop outdoor skills, and discover their own strength in the outdoors and beyond.

Five years in, I'm still as excited about Femme Trek as I was on day one. Maybe even more.

Every hike reminds me why I started this business in the first place. I get to meet incredible women, share places I love, teach skills that build confidence, and watch women surprise themselves with what they can do.

Building Femme Trek hasn't always been easy, but I've never stopped believing in what we're creating. I'm grateful for every woman who has trusted me to be part of her adventure, and I'm excited to see where the next five years take us.
